The Admission of New Entrants (E/15)

Since 1950, our alma mater, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, the first engineering faculty of the country, produces innovative, creative and talented engineers to our motherland. Continuing the journey of excellence, new entrants of E/15 batch were enrolled on 26th November 2016.

The new entrants were warmly welcomed by the staff and the students of the Faculty of Engineering at the faculty premises. They were accompanied by the senior students of the faculty and a souvenir was offered along with the hand book.

The inauguration ceremony was held from 9.00 a.m. onwards at the EOE Pereira Theatre with the presence of Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and Prof. Leelananda Rajapaksha, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya. Deans and professors of the other faculties, along with the professors and academic staff of the Faculty of Engineering graced the occasion.

The welcome address was done by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and was followed by the addresses of Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya and the president of Engineering Students’ Union.

Thereafter, a cultural show consisting an orchestra and a dance was performed by the Art Circle of the faculty, remarking the end of the ceremony.

Refreshments were provided then at the Drawing Office. The enrollments were done from 11.00 a.m. onward at the faculty premises followed by the lunch and the video shows at the EOE Pereira Theatre.

In this way, one of the most significant date of the university calendar came to an end with a huge success because of the collaborative efforts of the academic and non-academic staff members of the faculty, along with the tremendous effort of the senior students
