Staff-Student Interactive Session for the Freshmen.

Staff-Student Interactive Session for the Freshmen.

An interactive session, focussed on promoting discussions and activities between the staff and the new (E/15) batch of students, was held on 8th December 2016, at the University Gymnasium. Along with the freshmen, more than 50 staff members voluntarily participated in this event.

At the beginning of the event, members of the academic staff led small groups of students to the Gymnasium, from the faculty. Thereafter, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi made an inspirational speech, followed by a questions and discussion session. This created an interactive platform for the students to communicate with an experienced engineer.

Realizing the main goal of the event, an outdoor session was held for the staff and students to interact. A discussion was made here about the different aspects of university life and the university itselves. This was followed by a games and sport activity, back inside the gymnasium. The event concluded with a cultural show, held in collaboration with the faculty Art Circle, at the WUS Center, followed by the dinner.

This was a great opportunity for the students to interact with the academic staff, in a way which was not present beforehand. And the feedback from the students and the staff further showed the success of this event, which was held for the first time. It was apparent that this lead to cultivate a certain healthy bond between the staff and the freshmen.
